She finds comfort in the darkness, yet knows nothing but emptiness. She longs to bring things into the light, but fears the unknown. Yet she is tired of weeping alone. She is tired of carrying this burden herself and longs for another to come along and help her.
"Find rest in Me." she hears. The voice, which once was a close intimate friend, calls out to her. "Give me your burdens, and I will give you rest." the voice says again.
This causes a greater sorrow and a sob from deep within. How? she thinks to herself. How can I after I have abandoned you? How can I when I tried to find my strength in others? How can you take me back when I am filthy? Immediately, the parable of the prodigal sons comes to her mind.
"Though you have wandered, I am here. I am here to welcome you back into fellowship with open arms."
With all the might she has within her, she futilely attempts to hold back the tears, yet they flowed like rivers. How can you love after I have spit in your face? How can you embrace me after I have rolled around in filth like a pig? I don't understand, she gets out between sobs.
"You won't understand my love, for my love surpasses your understanding."
In reply, she shouts in anger. What can I do?! What must I do?
"My love is unconditional, dear child. You need not do anything but abide in me. I am the vine, you are the branches, if you abide in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing... Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. Come to me."
In a humble surrender, she allows herself to be swallowed up in the love. The weeping did not stop, but her tears were wiped away.
"I paid your debt. Your sins are forgiven." the voice said, as He embraced her and carried her before the throne of grace.
