My half-hearted attempts proved supercilious, at best;
while my repugnant actions seem to only suggest
my tempestuous and condescending opinion of You,
which left no room for errors and conflicts that ensue.
But upon recognition of the problems I faced,
I lose heart at my selfish behavior, done in poor taste.
For I pretended I loved You, yet only thought of me.
So, in humility and self-death, on my knees, I do plea.
With help from Your Spirit and with example, I will discern
what it means to love, to live, to obey, and to learn.
So forgive me my sins of selfishness and pride.
And in redemption, may my hope always abide.
